What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses multiple fine needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that contribute to the overall health and appearance of your skin. Easily combined with other treatments, including vitamin serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling may help minimize pores, stretch marks, and scars. How Does Microneedling Work?
Collagen induction therapy with microneedling is performed in one of our private treatment rooms in about 30 – 60 minutes using a numbing cream or local anesthesia if desired; however, patients generally feel mild or no pain and discomfort. The skin being addressed will be cleaned before the SkinPen handpiece is evenly passed over. Once the microneedling is complete, a treatment, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a serum with a vitamin infusion, can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in along with sunscreen since your skin will be sensitive after the procedure.
